My name is Rakesh Gupta and I thank you for giving us your valuable attention & time.

Madhurim Foundation

We are a grassroots-driven small & family-run foundation. I have dedicated my life to running this foundation and am personally involved in all day-to-day operations. Over the last year, we have organized a small team who work with us full-time on all aspects of the foundation.

Coming from a middle-class background, I run this foundation with strict austerity and we try to save as much money as possible wherever possible. We research everything from buying food, grains, medicines & other items that we distribute, and we always look for better vendors to help us with the lowest prices.

Our areas of focus have been a result of lots of hits and trials, and based on our strengths & weaknesses, we have narrowed down our effort toward:

Food Program at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. We organize lunches 3 times a week outside the hospital. This hospital (Govt hospital) is overflowing with patients, with hundreds (including kids) sleeping outside on the pavement.

Medical Help is one of the main areas of our focus. We work closely with the hospital to identify people who are in desperate conditions and need immediate help. After verifying every detail of the patient (most of them travel with their kids from far out States), we take responsibility for registering the patient with our foundation as a responsible party. We provide them with wheelchairs, etc. (if needed), take care of their food and medicines & finally buy them tickets for their hometown once their medical issues are resolved.

Education for kids is another area that is very dear to me. We pay for kids' education where parents can't afford to. We involve teachers in our effort and create a performance-based plan for these kids to motivate them. We continuously improve in this area and want to set up a path for these kids to financial independence as they grow older.

Last Rites is a fundamental right everyone should have for their loved ones. I learned that families on cremation grounds are refused these rituals due to a lack of money. We now work with 3 cremation grounds in Faridabad and help these families.

I must confess that I am learning about many problems our fellow citizens face, which motivates me even more. Our team is very dedicated and I am very proud of everyone.
